Direct to Midwife Access

It is important that you access midwifery services on confirmation of your pregnancy.

Appointments can be made via your GP receptionist.

You do not need to see a GP to confirm your pregnancy prior to booking in to see a midwife.

New to the area? Don’t currently have a GP? Please ring the midwives on 0161 922 6159 to arrange an appointment.

Once you have seen your midwife and discussed your birth plan the midwife will make an appointment for your first ultrasound scan.

Where to have your baby?

This information explains the options available to you regarding where you can give birth to your baby. It is important that you are aware of the services offered so you can make an informed decision regarding your choice of place of birth and birth plan.

Tour of the unit– This is provided as part of the parent education session and can be booked directly by ringing labour ward. If you do not wish to attend patent education can simply go on the tour.
